WeSTco Bios ![]() Mark Schermesser :: President Mark Schermesser has spent more than 35 years in the steel industry. In that time his career has spanned every aspect of the trade. At Westco Iron Works Mark brings his experience and strengths to bear in cost estimating, product design, and project management. Mark’s persistence, attention to detail, and vast experience ensures you get highest quality product at the lowest possible cost.
Scott Hofstede :: Vice President Beginning as a shop employee in 1996, Scott Hofstede’s career in the steel industry has taken him from project manager to estimator to vice president, managing more than fifty employees. In that time, Scott has estimated, awarded, and project managed over $65 million in work. Key projects at Westco Iron Works include the Novartis MUPC, Lockheed Building 159, and the San Rafael Corporate Center.
John Wenger :: Vice President John Wenger started in the steel fabrication business in 1986. He has done everything from running prints as a detail trainee and making templates for the shop and field, to project managing and estimating on construction projects worth millions. As head of project management at Westco Iron Works, John specializes in creating estimate-based production schedules designed to track the back-log of work for accurate labor allocations. What does that mean for you? Tighter production schedules that get your steel on the job site faster, along with leaner, meaner, more accurate estimates that cut the fat from a bid.
A structural steel company is only as strong as its finances, and that’s where Chief Financial Officer Brad Thompson comes in. Brad earned his CPA in 1985, and brings an accountant’s eye for detail to the accounting, financing, and general bookkeeping tasks at Westco Iron Works. In addition to making sure all Westco Iron Work's banking, insurance and bonding requirements are met, Brad handles union issues, heads up the Safety Committee, and oversees every contract that goes out the door.
